Armando Iannucci’s political comedy is set in the 'Department of Social Affairs and Citizenship', a fictitious government department in London. Working here involves coping with policy U-turns, spin doctoring, publicity crises and coalition rows. Blundering department boss Hugh Abbot and his ambitious successor Nicola Murray struggle to keep control, as Number Ten’s aggressive ‘enforcer’ Malcolm Tucker (Peter Capaldi) piles on the pressure. Irreverent, brilliantly sweary and painfully funny, this series smashes its way through the corridors of power in a bulldozer of hilarious farce and sharp satire. Expect strong language.
